In this reproduction colonial—designed to echo the charm of an early 1800s primitive home—we let the original details take center stage, from the brick floors to the exposed wood ceilings. To brighten the space, we kept the palette light and fresh, knowing the wood ceilings and limited natural light could easily make it feel heavy. The kitchen was updated with granite counters, a classic beadboard backsplash, and a touch of brass for function and flair. We reimagined the layout of the main suite to allow for a walk-in closet and a larger shower, opting for a European-style open concept bathroom. A bold red-on-red color scheme pays tribute to the home’s historic roots while bringing in a modern twist.
